After returning from the United Kingdom, Dr. Umair Qidwai has been serving as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Patel Hospital.

At Patel, he performs the full spectrum of glaucoma surgeries, including complex and high-risk cases, and provides expert management for diagnostic and laser-based glaucoma treatments.

In addition, he carries out all types of cataract surgeries, utilizing state-of-the-art phacoemulsification and advanced micro-incision techniques to ensure optimal outcomes and patient comfort.

His practice is recognized for its precision, patient-centered care, and adoption of the latest evidence-based innovations in ophthalmic surgery.

Dr. Qidwai has been associated with LRBT for the past year, where he plays a pivotal academic and clinical leadership role within the Department of Glaucoma.

He has been instrumental in the recognition and development of the Glaucoma Fellowship Program, now serving as an official supervisor, mentoring and training multiple glaucoma fellows.

Under his guidance, the department has strengthened its commitment to research, education, and excellence in surgical outcomes, with ongoing projects focusing on innovation in glaucoma management and advanced surgical techniques.

I also serve as a Visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist at the prestigious Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, UK. My work here focuses on the diagnosis and management of complex glaucoma cases, as well as specialized laser treatments, contributing to the hospital’s renowned excellence in tertiary eye care.

Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologist

In addition, I have the privilege of serving as an Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, assessing candidates for the Part 2 Final Exit Examination ( Viva, and OSCE). This role allows me to contribute to the professional standards and training of future ophthalmologists in the UK and internationally.
